No More Fish in the Sea
Catch of the Day: water pollution is dramatically eroding Lebanon’s once-magnificent coastline, and destroying the traditional craft of local fishermen.
As more and more detritus appears in fishermen’s nets, Alexandra Hakim saw an opportunity to raise awareness while simultaneously giving these waste materials a new lease of life. Cast in silver or brass, and embellished with freshwater pearls, they have been transformed into intricate jewels in an ode to a struggling community and a glimmer of hope for a brighter, more sustainable future.
